SUBMIT

General Guidelines

• We welcome writing of any medium from anyone between the ages of 13-25. We also accept art works and photography showcase. Email all submissions with the subject line “[Your Name]: [Genre] Submission” to stargazettemagazine@gmail.com.

  • Please send maximum up to 5 poems and up to 10 pages of prose. You can send up to 3 art pieces and 3 photos per submission.

  • Please attach writing as a file to your email. Please attach your artwork and photographs in .jpg, .jpeg, .pdf versions. We don’t have any required formatting, so please use your best judgement for what formatting would represent your work best.

  • Within the body of your email, please include your pronouns and a short (approx. 25-50 word) third-person bio, for use if you are selected for publication. If you have social media handles and/or a photo that you would like to accompany your piece(s), include those as well!

  • We want to hear your story. People from all backgrounds are encouraged to submit introspective, interesting, and imaginative pieces on any topic is encouraged.

• We welcome simultaneous submissions! If your piece is accepted by another publication, congratulations! Please notify us by replying to your original email; you can then choose to keep your submission with us as a previously published/forthcoming piece or withdraw your submission.

• Previously published works are fine, as long as you credit the original publication.

   

  Rules

• Because we want Star Gazette to be a safe place for understanding and growth, we reserve the right not to publish any pieces with graphic mention of topics that could potentially be triggering to readers. To protect our readers, all content with references to such topics will contain a content warning. We will never publish hate speech, discriminatory language, etc. If we do deem that your submission violates this guideline, we will not respond to you nor review submissions from you again. As a rule of thumb, if you are wondering whether your submission could break this rule, please do not send it in.

• Plagiarism is not tolerated under any circumstances. If your work is discovered to have been plagiarized, we will automatically reject your work and you will not be welcome to resubmit for any sub cycle.

• After publication, all rights revert back to you, the author. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot pay contributors with anything other than heartfelt gratitude.

Response time: We will try our best to respond to you within one week. Response times are typically much shorter, from 1-3 days. However, something may come up that delays us! If you have not received a response in one week, please feel free to query us at stargazettemagazine@gmail.com.
